Funded by the National Library of Medicine, Disability and Rehabilitation provides access to high quality, up-to-date information with a special focus on brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, chronic pain, neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disorders, accessibility and assistive technology. It is a collaborative effort led by Nalini Mahajan, Marianjoy Medical Library Director and Web master with input from Marianjoy physicians and clinicians. It is based on patient needs identified by Marianjoy Medical Clinic (MMC) physicians as well as clinicians with a view to support patients and families in locating and accessing relevant health information.
Consistent with the mission of the National Library of Medicine, the Web site is designed to simplify and enhance patients abilities to access accurate information from the point of care as well as directly from their homes. This information portal would be widely available on the Internet for people with disabilities, their families, libraries, schools, agencies, and other health care providers.
It is envisioned that through the newly created Website thousands of families, health care providers, colleges and universities, schools, libraries, hospitals will have access to valuable resources and accurate clinical information at points of care or at home.
